Fitness FAQs and Questions about personal training at The Pure 24 Fitness Health Club

Q: How long is a training session?
A: Each workout is approximately an hour in length. This can be tailored to fit the client's needs and fitness level.

Q: How many times a week should I meet with a trainer?
A: The number of sessions required each week is based on three factors: goals, motivation and budget. Clients work with a trainer anywhere from one to three times a week. Once a week, clients are assigned "homework" that they must do on their own in addition to the workout with the trainer. After meeting with your trainer, a schedule can then be created.

Q: What kind of results can I expect?
A: I don’t like to use the word "results," as each person benefits in their own unique way. I do promise that if you are putting in the right amount of time and effort, you will look better and feel better. However, results are not achievable unless you are doing your part to follow the prescribed routine and along with making dietary improvements.

Q: What diet do you recommend?
A: I do not like to assign diets for my clients. My approach to fitness is that of a lifestyle change. Diets are a quick fix and do not address the real issues behind being overweight. Talking with clients during the workout session is the best way to determine where clients are going wrong with their eating habits and give tips on how to make positive changes. I like to provide my clients with a food diary and some suggestions on how many calories the client should consume a day based on the norms calculations.

Q: How much does personal training cost?
A: The cost depends upon how many times a week and how many weeks you meet with me, as well as the amount of sessions paid for in advance.

There are several reasons why your muscle cramps up, one of them is dehydration & salt depletion. This may be brought on by continuous sweating during prolonged exercise. Muscle cramps usually occur suddenly during or shortly after the activity. Once the muscle cramps, stop the activity. A muscle cramp is a sign of an irritated muscle, and further activity causes further irritation. Messaging the muscle can often help the cramp to resolve. Gentle stretching can also help stop the cramps but should be done with caution or not at all if a serious injury is suspected. Fluids are important, especially if dehydration is a possibility. Sports drinks that contain salt are the best sources of fluid during cramps but water is also good.

Eating Before Exercise
If your activity is light to moderate and you can maintain that endurance for more than 30 minutes, your body can digest food during exercise. A pre-exercise snack would be beneficial.

If your activity is moderate to intense, you might experience stomach or intestinal upset if you eat a large snack or meal before exercise. You will have to learn from experience what meal plan works best for you.

If you are involved in a very intense activity such as sprinting, you’ll probably want to eat approximately three to four hours before the activity.
